POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa – According to our media partner in Des Moines, WHO, the man accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts has asked for a hearing scheduled for next week to be delayed.
Cristhian Rivera is charged with first-degree murder. He is accused of killing the 20-year-old University of Iowa student. Tibbetts disappeared while jogging in Brooklyn last year on July 18th.
WHO reports Rivera was an undocumented immigrant from Mexico and claims he wasn’t properly read his Miranda rights and wants his confession to be thrown out.
A hearing on his motion was scheduled for August 23rd.
