18 dogs rescued in Brandon

BRANDON, Iowa (KWWL) – At about 2:45 Monday afternoon, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office were sent on a welfare check on South Street. The caller reported several dogs had broken the front door of the house and were roaming around.

Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the home and did find several dogs roaming around. Authorities discovered the person was living in poor conditions in a home that did not seem climate controlled. The person was sent to an area hospital (North Benton Ambulance Service) to be looked at.

The Sheriff’s Office reached out to Wildthunder WARS for helping the dogs get to a facility for evaluation and care. A total of 18 dogs were taken from the home. Four dogs were found dead on the property by Sheriff’s Deputies. The incident remains under investigation.
