TOMORROW: Cedar Falls Maid-Rite reopens; husband carrying on wife’s legacy

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Cedar Falls Maid-Rite will re-open on Thursday, July 11 (tomorrow).

The new hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Maid-Rite says thank you to all their customers and  to the Cedar Valley. They are thankful for everyone’s patience, respect, thoughts and prayers.

Allen, who is Penne Koeppel’s husband, will take over the restaurant in an effort to carry on Penne’s legacy. This is a place she worked so hard to build in the Cedar Valley.

Koeppel, 64, died Sunday at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Koeppel owned and operated the Maid-Rite in downtown Cedar Falls since 1980.

The owner of the Cedar Falls Maid-Rite has died and the restaurant will be closed for a period of time.

Penne Koeppel, 64, died Sunday at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Koeppel owned and operated the Maid-Rite in downtown Cedar Falls since 1980.

According to a Facebook post, the restaurant will be closed until July 11.
