Iowa City Police identify body found in Ralston Creek

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) — Iowa City Police have reported a body was located in the Ralston Creek earlier this morning.

According to a press release the body was found in the 400 block of South Gilbert around 6:45 a.m..

At this time there are few details known about what happened or how the person ended up in the water.

The Johnson County Medical Examiner and Iowa City Police are investigating.

UPDATE: Police have released the identity of a person found dead in Ralston Creek.

Iowa City Police identified the body as Jonathan Guerrero, 26, of Iowa City.

Investigators do not believe his death is suspicious.

The incident is not thought to be connected to another body found in Iowa City on Monday, under the Hwy 1/Iowa River Bridge.

Anyone with information about Guerrero and his whereabouts around June 30 are encouraged to call police.
