Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony to perform free Independence Day weekend concerts

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KWWL) –  Under the direction of Pauline Barrett Artistic Director and Conductor Jason Weinberger, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony invites the community to their free outdoor concerts to celebrate Independence Day.

The symphony will lead the Mayor’s Fireworks in Waterloo with a full concert on Saturday, July 6.  This concert will begin at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Riverloop Amphitheatre.

The next day, on July 7, the symphony will repeat the concert in Waverly at the Kohlmann Park Amphitheatre.  That concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

According to a news release, selections will include The Stars and Stripes Forever, Armed Forces Medley, America the Beautiful, Stars and Stripes Forever and the 1812 Overture. The Waterloo concert will also include a performance by the winner of the 2019 Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition, cellist Derek Hwang.
