BREAKING: Gas leak in Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) – A portion of roads are closed in downtown Dubuque due to a gas leak.

Dubuque Fire Department was called to 2186 Central Avenue at 3:15 PM this afternoon following reports of a gas line being struck.  The crews on scene reported gas readings inside Knickers Saloon.  Knickers, as well as other downtown businesses in the area have been evacuated.

Blackhills Energy crews are on the scene and are working to fix the leak. Crews expect repairs to take approximately three hours.

Central Avenue is currently closed from 21st Street to 23rd Street and White Street is closed from 21st Street to 22nd Street.  Police advise traffic to find alternate routes until further notice.
