Tama County (KWWL) — The Tama County Sheriff’s Office confirms a train derailment happened early Wednesday morning.
The train derailment happened around 3:47 a.m. on X Avenue, near Chelsea.
There are no reports of injuries.

UPDATE: Tama County Emergency Services says the call for the train derailment came in around 3:45 a.m.
The train wasn’t carrying any hazardous materials. The cars that spilled were hauling sugar and soda ash.
Authorities say there is no threat to waterways.
Union Pacific is on scene, investigating the derailment.
