CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Cedar Falls Public Safety Department says they have earned a 3 ISO rating. They say this puts them in the top 3.5 percent of all fire departments in Iowa.
The study is done by the Insurance Services Office, and it’s part of their Public Protection Classification program. ISO surveys over 1,600 fire departments in Iowa. Cedar Falls has earned a 3 rating in previous years.
“We couldn’t do this without the public safety model,” said Fire Chief John Bostwick said in a press release. “We have been able to have more firefighters on duty responding to emergency calls in Cedar Falls. This model has proven to be safer, more efficient and more economical for our community.”
The Public Safety Department says the national average is a 5 ISO rating. This is based on a scale where 10 is the worst and 1 is the best.
