Cedar Rapids Fire Department celebrating 150th Anniversary

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL)– Saturday, June 15th the Cedar Rapids Fire Department will be hosting an Open House at the Central Fire Station, 713 1st Avenue SE to celebrate the department’s 150th anniversary.

Firefighters will be conducting tours of the fire station and children can meet Sparky the Fire Dog.  Fire crews will demonstrate the safe and legal way to have an outdoor recreational fire and attendees will have the opportunity to win an outdoor recreational fire package.

UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital will information about the “Stop the Bleed” campaign and members of the Linn County Safe Kids Coalition will have 50 bicycle helmets to provide to children.  Child passenger safety seat information will also be available from Linn County Safe Kids.
