WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) – It was quite a day for some local Cedar Valley kids.  VGM collaborated with Variety-the Children’s Charity and Rifton to give four kids adaptive tricycles.

A special presentation took place Tuesday morning during VGM’s annual Heartland Conference at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center.  This is the fourth year Variety, VGM and Rifton have donated this equipment to local youth, ages five to 11.

Thanks to this generous donation, Jayben Westlund, Jamari Kruse, Nolan Jordan and Zoey Down will be able to enjoy one of the most memorable summer pastimes of childhood: riding a bike or tricycle.  Each child has varying special needs.  Once chosen for this year’s giveaway, the tricycles were specifically designed to meet each child’s needs.

“We’re always excited to orchestrate these impactful moments between Heartland Conference attendees and the community VGM calls home,” said Scott Owen, senior vice president of contracting for VGM. “Every recipient will sincerely have a better life thanks to our friends at Rifton and Variety. Helping those in need live more independently is precisely what VGM and our partners strive to achieve daily.”

The smiles in these photos from today’s presentation of the tricycles says it all: it was a success!
