Collins Aerospace parent company merges with U.S. defense company

Cedar Rapids (KWWL) — The parent company of Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, United Technologies, is merging with a U.S. defense company.

United Technologies announced the merger with Raytheon Company on their website Sunday.

The company says the merging of the companies will add revenue opportunities from combined technology, and the new company will be worth more than one billion dollars.

The merger is expected to close in the first part of 2020; and it is expected to be tax-free.
