Man’s best friend and traveling partner: Duo crossing the country to support Canine Partners for Life

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) – If you’ve seen an 85-pound dog being towed in a carrier by a bicyclist in the Cedar Rapids area today, have no fear – Onyx is here!

Ron Storms is carrying his black lab named Onyx 3,000 miles across the country, and today they are in Cedar Rapids.  “Team Ronyx” is on Onyx’s Great Adventure to raise money and awareness for Canine Partners for Life, an organization that provides service and companion animals for those in need.

Meghan Shreiner is a part of the team, as well.   She follows the duo in their truck with their tiny home, as they make their way from Oregon to the Canine Partners for Life facility in Cochranville, Pennsylvania.  The goal is that, by traveling coast to coast, people will be inspired to donate to their efforts.  Their goal is to raise $30,000, which is the cost of one service dog.

Shreiner tells KWWL they ended up at the Morgan Creek Park Wednesday due to all the rain.  They will head out of the Cedar Rapids area Thursday.  They post about their adventures on their Onyx’s Great Adventure Facebook page.
