SALIX, Iowa (KWWL)– Two people are seriously injured after a boating incident on Saturday. Just before 4 pm, a boat, driven by 29 year old Nicole Baker, was pulling 17 year old Adreanna Hamman and 39 year old Bernard Baker when the tube struck a stationary boat.
Both Baker and Hamman were taken to a Sioux City hospital. Hamman was transported to an Omaha hospital and is in stable condition following surgery. Baker is currently stablized at a Sioux City hospital.
The Iowa DNR says alcohol and drugs were not a factor. All safety equipment was in place on the boat, and the tubers were wearing personal flotation devices when the crash occurred.
Charges in the case are pending.
