Urban Alliance team to visit the Cedar Valley – public invited June 17 & 18

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KWWL) – The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa has announced the Urban Alliance team from Kalamazoo, Michigan will be coming back to the Cedar Valley June 17 and 18 to help inspire and implement initiatives in the Cedar Valley.  Everyone in the community is encouraged to take part.

“Personally, I was first inspired with the Momentum Project at the Future Ready Iowa Conference this past fall where they shared their local success.  Since that conference, many of us have been meeting on a regular basis to leverage their expertise, and to begin to think about various strategies we could implement locally to create positive change.  We are definitely invested in bringing this programming to the Cedar Valley,” said CFNEIA CEO and President, Kaye Englin.

They will be holding opportunities for the community to weigh in, as community leaders work to get the alliance up and running in the Cedar Valley.  It’s important to get community input and also have the Urban Alliance share best practices and curriculum tools to ensure success.

The Overcoming Barriers Community Meeting with be June 17 from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at the VGM Adult Learning Center at 120 Jefferson St. in Waterloo.  RSVP Debra Hodges-Harmon at debra.hodges-harmon@iwd.iowa.gov.  There will also be an input session on June 18.  Learn more by emailing Hodges-Harmon.
