(KWWL) – The College Board is changing the way its SAT test-takers earn their score, giving them a separate score based on the environment they grew up in.

It’s called the Environmental Context Dashboard, and it will give the college or colleges a student applies to a score that shows their socio-economic background.

Though people, including college admissions counselors, have quickly dubbed this the “adversity score,” the CEO of the College Board, David Coleman, says it’s all about measuring how students do in “challenging environments,” according to the report published in USA Today.
