CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) — A popular neighborhood park is getting a facelift with new playground structures and updated facilities.
The old, existing lower playground near 940 Oakland Rd. NE is set for demolition beginning Tuesday, May 14th. The new playground will have two areas. One of the sections will be geared toward 2 to 5 year-olds and the other for older children around 5 to 12 years of age.
The new structure is also said to be more accessible, according to a press release. It will include slides, climbers, educational panels, a saucer swing, net climber, and sensory cover climber.
Construction on the new playground is expected to take several weeks. The city hopes to have it ready for use by mid-June.
