Parts of Davenport evacuated after levee breach floods downtown-area

UPDATE: as of 6:14 pm the the life threatening aspect is over so the Flash Flood Warning (Emergency) has been cancelled.

A FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY was issued for downtown Davenport by the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities. Streets became flooded in 10-15 minutes with several cars under water or now floating. They are in the process of rescuing people from building that got surrounded by the water.

The Mississippi River is approaching record levels in this area.
