IOWA FALLS, Iowa (KWWL) – Around 50 gallons of diesel spilled this afternoon managing to get to the Iowa River in Iowa Falls.
Fuel poured out while an Agvantage FS truck was filling a farm diesel tank around fives miles south of Iowa Falls. The fuel flowed close to 50 feet into the river when an automatic shutoff valve didn’t work.
The diesel fuel went about three miles downstream by 5 p.m. today. An environmental cleanup contractor was on the way. Agvantage FS is collaborating with the contractor to place booms and stop the spill before it hits Highway 65.
The DNR has reported that they will continue to monitor the situation.
