BREMER COUNTY, Iowa – The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office confirms 59-year-old Daniel G. Niebuhr, of Fairbank, allegedly shot and killed his son.

According to a press release, Niebuhr has been arrested and charged with Murder in the First Degree.

On Friday, March 22nd, someone called Buchanan County Dispatch around 5:25 p.m., saying someone was hurt badly, possibly with a knife. The area where the incident occurred was just outside of Fairbank, so the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office responded.

Police records say when first responders arrived, 36-year-old Brock Niebuhr was pronounced dead at the scene. He appeared to have died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Police records say Niebuhr allegedly shot his son. During an interview, he admitted to walking up behind Brock and shooting him while he was on the couch watching TV.
