Boat ramps closing due to heightened water levels

CEDAR RAPIDS,Iowa—The Cedar Rapids Fire Department will be closing boat ramps on Saturday, March 16th due to the heightening Cedar River water levels.

By closing the boat ramps, boats and other water craft are discouraged from being on the Cedar River when the river level is 13 feet or higher.

Boat ramps within the City limits will be closed from Saturday morning until the Cedar River falls below 13 feet, which is currently expected to be March 20th. Barricades will placed in front of the boat ramps.

The boat ramp closure may be modified if the river level projections are revised by the National Weather Service.
