WATERLOO, Iowa – Waterloo police confirm a man has been arrested for a hit-and-run accident that killed a Waterloo teenager.

They say 16-year-old Tayshaun Jenkins of Waterloo was killed near the area of Courtland Street and Vinton Street in Waterloo.

22-year-old Brandon Gordon came to the police station and was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury/fatality accident. He was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail. He will be held on $15,000 cash bond.

At around 8:18 in the morning, officers responded to the area. An autopsy was completed on March 11th. The results were inconclusive pending further laboratory testing. Officers spoke with witnesses and found Jenkins was likely the victim of a hit-and-run accident.

The police department says, “The public was instrumental throughout this investigation and we would like to thank them for their help.   This remains an ongoing investigation as we continue to follow investigatory leads and conduct interviews.  If anyone has additional information please contact law enforcement.”
