CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KWWL) – Four public safety officers will move to the fire department in just a few weeks.

At a special meeting held Wednesday afternoon, the Cedar Falls City Council voted to move forward with an agreement with the police union that will allow those PSOs to work 24 hour shifts.

Public Safety Director Jeff Olson told us that the move is due in part to the recent firefighter resignations they’ve seen but the agreement to do so had been in the works for much longer.

The meeting lasted for almost an hour as a few community members and one city councilman took issue with a variety of topics from the time of the meeting itself to salaries.
