Towing begins for cars on Cedar Rapids’ Emergency Snow Routes

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) — The City of Cedar Rapids will begin towing vehicles parked on emergency snow routes, as they create hazards for plows.

According to a press release from Public Safety Communications Coordinator, Greg Buelow officers are out enforcing the cities snow emergency ordinance by issuing tickets or towing vehicles.

Cars should not be parked on designated emergency snow routes once a snow emergency has been declared.

Emergency snow routes are prioritized to be plowed first and are main arterial roads around schools zones, hospitals, and bus routes.

We have attached an Emergency Snow Route Map. That map can also be found on the cities website.

To report a vehicle creating a hazard in an Emergency Snow Route, call the Cedar Rapids Police Department at 319-286-5491.
