DES MOINES, Iowa (KWWL) – New details into the state of marijuana in Iowa…
A lawmaker, who represents eastern Iowa, wants to legalize it for recreational us. He also wants law enforcement to treat enforcing it, like they would alcohol.
State Senator Joe Bolkcom is from Iowa City, and he said today that he thinks Iowa should legalize marijuana and then tax and regulate it. He said a legal age of 21 could be adopted, just like alcohol in the state.
He says, “Legal marijuana is coming to the Midwest, it’s time for us in Iowa to begin to have a serious discussion on how we might tackle that or move away from prohibition.”
Leaders in Illinois are considering a change towards recreational marijuana during their current session.
