DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) – Hospice of Dubuque has issued a warning about a telephone scam in which the caller poses as a hospice worker, asking for money.

Officials issued the warning Wednesday afternoon.  Several victims have reported receiving a call from a Hospice of Dubuque number, according to their caller ID.  The caller asks the victim for a payment over the phone.

Hospice of Dubuque’s Community Relations Facilitator, Tiffany Stietz, sent out an email immediately to address the scam.  It reads:

“Hospice of Dubuque has become aware of a phone scam in which the caller ID indicates Hospice of Dubuque and, if the call is answered, payment is requested. THIS IS A SCAM!  Hospice of Dubuque does not make solicitation calls.”

The same message is also on Hospice of Dubuque’s website.
