A suspected “serial burglar” has stolen from around 40 small-town businesses all over eastern Iowa. Now law enforcement is asking you for help.

Police believe the same man has been breaking into small-town businesses after hours. They say he steals money and causes extensive damage. In Tama County, he’s stolen several thousand dollars.

They say he tends to break-in by using a pry bar to get through the door or by breaking through a window.

The Tama County Sheriff’s Office says, “rough estimate, he’s stolen from around 40 across the state.” They say he’s stolen from bars, grocery stores, gas stations, and a golf course.

He’s believed to have possibly hit La Porte City, Traer, and Tama, just to name a few towns.

He’s described as a white male with facial hair, possibly around 6 feet tall.

Police believe one of the suspect’s possible most recent stops was La Porte City. He’s believed to have broken into Getaway Bar and Grill and Thriftway. A press release says, “cash was taken from both businesses as well as over $3,500 in damages to the buildings and content within.”

Police are asking anyone with information or tips, to please contact their local law enforcement.
