Police: Clear windshields of ice or pay fine

MUSCATINE COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) — Area police departments are reminding drivers to clear their windshields of snow and ice before hitting the roads.

The Wilton Police Department shared a picture on Facebook showing the windshield of a car that had been driven to a school parking lot.

In the post police say the driver almost caused a car accident, that they were more than likely unaware of due to their lack of visibility.

Wilton Police Department said they will be issuing citations for drivers who fail to clear their windshields, as it is a safety concern.

In the Facebook post police said those citations cost around $127.00.

The West Liberty Police Department re-shared the post, echoing the same message.

According to their post they have pulled over drivers who had their heads hanging out their car windows.

Wilton Police Department is urging drivers to leave extra time in the morning to properly defrost their windows.
