After a burglary at a home in a Waterloo neighborhood, a grandma helps police find and arrest one of the suspects.
Waterloo police confirm four suspects were allegedly involved in a burglary at a home on Cornwall Avenue at around 9:30 this morning.
They say when police arrived, the four suspects ran.
A grandma in the neighborhood, found one of the suspects hiding on her back porch.
“I got a little closer and I looked, and oh there were two legs and two feet. I thought I think that’s probably one of the guys they’re looking for. I called 9-1-1,” grandma Paulette Meyers says.
Police responded immediately and were able to arrest the man in Meyer’s backyard.
“The police responded so fast. I appreciate that. It makes me feel a little safer. Like if something happened to me, I know they’d be here really quick,” neighbor Heather Rios says.
Police confirm three of the four suspects were arrested and charged. A 4th suspect did escape. There is no danger to the public at this time.
WATERLOO, Iowa – According to a press release, Waterloo police responded to a report of a possible burglary at 1176 Cornwall Avenue at around 9:30 this morning.
When officers arrived, the four suspects ran away. Police say they were able to arrest two of the suspects after a short chase on foot.
The two other suspects got into a vehicle and drove away. Officers followed the vehicle, until the two suspects stopped and ran out of the car.
Officers searched the neighborhood and were able to find and arrest three suspects. The 4th suspect escaped.
19-year-old Deshawn L. Jackson, 24-year-old Rashawn L. Jackson and 19-year-old Marcus A. Bell were arrested.
