The debate was held in partnership with the University of Northern Iowa in UNI’s Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
“KWWL serves all of the 1st District’s nearly 600,000 residents and is pleased to offer this important debate in a nationally recognized congressional district to viewers in Northeast Iowa,” said Jim McKernan, VP and General Manager of KWWL. “We thank Congressman Blum, State Representative Finkenauer and the University of Northern Iowa for making this important discussion of the issues happen.”
“The University is pleased to be the host site for an event that will support engagement in the electoral process among our students and the communities we serve,” said Aaron Clingingsmith, Interim Director of University Relations at UNI.
“I’m grateful to KWWL for allowing both campaigns the opportunity to present our visions for how to get Washington working again for families in eastern Iowa,” said State Representative Abby Finkenauer. “This debate will be an excellent opportunity to share our positions on issues like increasing wages, making healthcare more affordable, and rebuilding our infrastructure with voters in the Cedar Valley and across the first district.”
“Congressman Blum thanks Ms. Finkenauer for accepting this first debate of the ten total proposed and looks forward to speaking directly to the voters, as well as comparing and contrasting their records and experience in a long-form discussion on the issues that matter most to the first district,” said spokeswoman Alexah Rogger.
