Hawkeye faithful will have a chance to navigate a corn maze dedicated to a growing, world-famous Iowa tradition this fall.
Harvestville Farm in Donnellson has selected the "Iowa Wave" as the theme for the farm’s 10-acre maze, which will debut on Saturday, September 1.
The Wave first came about during Iowa football’s home opener at Kinnick Stadium last fall, as Hawkeye fans in attendance waved towards the young patients within the nearby and newly-completed University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City after the game’s first quarter had ended. In the 11 months since the Wave’s creation, the tradition has already been nominated for international awards and celebrated in popular culture.
Exploring the maze this fall will also mean supporting the mission of the Stead Family Children’s Hospital, as Harvestville operators say $1 of every admission to the maze during Saturday home games in September and October will be donated back to the hospital.
"We are always looking for organizations or non-profits that we can partner with to make a difference in our community,” said Harvestville Farm Co-Owner Adam Hohl.
Harvestville Farm’s fall hours are 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. Monday – Saturday and 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. on Sundays from September 1 through October 31.
