Serious crash has eastbound I-80 at a near standstill in Johnson County

A serious crash along Interstate 80 has stalled traffic for hours on Wednesday night.

Witnesses say a semi-trailer truck and motorcycle appear to be involved in the accident, which happened before 6 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway, near the Herbert Hoover Highway exit within Johnson County and east of Iowa City.

As of 9:15 p.m., traffic traveling east remains backed up along Interstate 80. Investigators have not released any details on the accident at this time.
