Recommended boil order in place in McGregor

An overnight water main break has McGregor Municipal Utilities urging residents served by the downtown McGregor water system to boil their water Monday until further notice.

The utility provider says the man break happened around 2 a.m. on Monday, and now a recommended boil order is in effect until the results of bacteria samples come back to ensure the safety of the system’s drinking water.

A statement from McGregor Municipal Utilities says residents should bring all water to a boil, then let it boil for at least one minute. The water then can be used for drinking or cooking purposes after cooling. The utility provider will provide an update on the order after the water has been tested.

For more information on the order, you can contact McGregor Municipal Utilities at 563-873-2258.
