Mexico volcano erupts

Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico lit up the night sky early Tuesday morning, spewing ash over nearby communities.

Incandescent rock reached up more than 1,300 feet in the air and ash was spread more than a mile and a half south. Authorities warned nearby communities to cover their nose and mouth and refrain from going outside.

The volcano has erupted more than a dozen times since 1519.
