One year ago, Jaheem Samir Harris died. He is gone, but certainly not forgotten.
On Sunday, July 8, many of Jaheem’s relatives and loved ones gathered to remember the 4-year-old. They spoke about their immense love for Jaheem and released balloons in his memory.
It was on July 8 of 2017 that Jaheem’s short life came to an end.
"We are still struggling with the death of Jaheem Samir," said his grandmother, Shay Caston. "He was a bright and beautiful baby boy. We remain to pray and put all of our faith in God for #Justice4JaheemSamir! We know the trial will be hard, but we have the faith to know God will make a way."
Jaheem’s obituary tells about the fun-loving, happy 4-year-old.
"He loved dancing, music, Paw Patrol, lifting weights, pretending to drive, and singing. Jaheem was an energetic boy with a smile that would light up a room," his obituary reads.
Walter Cordell Williams has been charged with first-degree murder in Jaheem’s death. He is awaiting trial.
"Jaheem spent most of his life with us. We miss him dearly. The pain is still present in our lives," said Caston. "I don’t want people to forget about him."
