Waterloo host families sought for upcoming school year

Educatius Group, an organization that specializes in recruitment and placement of international students in American homes, is looking for two host families for the upcoming school year.  The two boys needing host families are from China and Vietnam, and will attend Columbus Catholic High School in Waterloo.

Educatius says they prefer the host family live in the Waterloo Community School District for bussing purposes, according to local coordinator, Doug Knudtson.  Columbus starts classes August 23.  Students are expected to arrive the week before school starts and will leave within five days after the last day of school.  They make their own travel arrangements.

Host family requirements are that you provide a bedroom with a bed, desk and dresser or closet, three meals a day, an English-speaking environment, and be willing to go through an interview and criminal background check.

Students coming to the U.S. in the program are between the ages of 14 and 18, are fully-insured, have their own spending money, speak English and must maintain good grades during their stay.

Educatius is also seeking short-term hosts who serve as welcome families for a maximum of eight weeks at the beginning of the school year and also be able to serve as a transition home, in the event of a need for a home change, cover for vacations, or emergency, etc.
