Eastern Iowa man seriously hurt in fireworks accident

A 41-year-old man is in the hospital tonight with serious injuries to his hand after an Independence Day fireworks accident, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers say Jeremiah Morris, of rural Palo, was hurt while lighting fireworks around 7:19 p.m. Wednesday in the 4000 block of Old Ferry Road. Morris was taken by ambulance to Iowa City for treatment.

The Palo Fire Department and Area Ambulance also responded to the scene.
