Marion mom dies after boyfriend allegedly beat her unconscious

A Marion mother of two has died after her boyfriend allegedly beat her unconscious causing a serious brain injury. 

Stephanie Bowling died early Friday morning according to a Go Fund Me page made in her honor, she had two young daughters. 

27-year-old Cody Brown has been charged with Assault Causing Serious Injury after Bowling was found unconscious by police Thursday, Marion Police have not said whether his charge would be upgraded to a murder charge following Bowling’s death Friday. 

According to the criminal complaint Marion Police were called to the 700 block of Bentley Drive Thursday for a domestic dispute. 

When officers arrived they found Bowling unconscious and without a heartbeat. 

Brown allegedly told officers he was arguing with his girlfriend when he picked her up and threw her on the ground. 

Officers did CPR and Bowling was rushed to the hospital where preliminary reports showed she had suffered a serious brain injury in the attack.
