Iowa sportscaster Larry Cotlar dies in Des Moines flash flood

Longtime Iowa sportscaster Larry Cotlar has died after being swept away by flash flood waters in Des Moines. 

The 66-year-old had been the voice of Drake University sports since 2005. 

Drake University President Marty Martin released a statement this afternoon saying, "Our hearts go out to Larry’s family and friends, especially the thousands of Bulldog fans in Des Moines who have come to know Larry as the voice of their hometown team."

Cotlar was Iowa sportscaster of the year in 2007.
