Waterloo cancels rest of Independence Day Extravaganza due to weather

UPDATE

The fireworks are being rescheduled for August 31st as part of Riverloop Rhymes in Waterloo.

ORIGINAL STORY

Due to chances of severe weather across eastern Iowa, the City of Waterloo has canceled the rest of Saturday evening’s events as part of the Mayor’s Independence Day Extravaganza.

Waterloo Communications Director Wendy Bowman said that the remaining events would be canceled.

Earlier in the day, event organizers were forced to cancel the water events due to the fast flow of the river after last week’s flooding.

There is no word yet on rescheduling the festivities.
