Officer shoots gunman at northern Illinois high school

Authorities say a police officer shot and wounded a gunman at a northern Illinois high school.

Dixon city manager, Danny Langloss, says police confronted a man with a gun at Dixon High School around 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

We don’t know the gunman’s name or age, and his connection to the school has not been confirmed.

Langloss says the gunman shot at an officer and the officer fired back, hitting him. He was then arrested.

Authorities say the gunman suffered non-life threatening injuries.

All schools in the city about 80 miles west of Chicago have been put on lock down while the shooting is investigated.
