“Classroom Yoga,” Tools for Schools money going toward school yoga mats.

A 5th grade teacher at Kingsley Elementary is teaching her students yoga.

She was this month’s Cedar Valley Tools for Schools winner.

Holly Ritter says she will use her $1,000 reward to buy yoga mats for her students.

KWWL asked why she started yoga in the classroom.

Ritter says, "It’s a great way for us to start our day. We get to chose the type of day we have. Sometimes we need to calm down, and sometimes we need to get energized. It’s a way to just feel good about yourself and get your body and your mind going before we start our day."

The Cedar Valley Tools for Schools program is a partnership between KWWL, The University of Iowa Community Credit Union, and Kimball and Beecher.
