Columbus Catholic shuts-out Hudson Pirates

HUDSON, Iowa (KWWL) – A Black Hawk County rivalry between Waterloo Columbus and Hudson.

The defending Class A State Champion Hudson lost its first regular season game in two years. The Pirates suffered a seven to five loss to Jesup last week. However, Columbus opened the season with an impressive 35 to 6 win over Iowa Falls-Alden.

The first half was consumed with penalties. First drive the Pirates are stuffed and forced to punt. Ray Seidel gets the punt and takes it all the way to the house, but is called back due to penalties.

Columbus offense took to the air during their first drive. Carter Gallagher fires it to 23 Ben Sinnott. Sinnott draws first blood for the Sailors.

Hudson Pirates has Payton Stuart step up for Jackson Lehr who was taken out due to injury.

Closing out the second-half, Gallagher once again in the redzone. He connects with Ben Sinnott again for six. At half, Columbus leads 13 to zero.

In the second-half Ray Seidel also got in for six points.

Columbus drops anchor in Hudson with a final score of 19 to zero. Columbus is heading to East Marshall and Hudson heads on the road for the first time to Garwin.
