Hackers heading to University of Iowa campus for 3rd annual Hackathon

Student hackers from universities and colleges all over the Midwest will be heading to the University of Iowa campus this weekend for the 3rd annual UIOWA Hackathon.

The two day event is educational and designed to inspire creativity using computer programming skills to solve problems. Students will work in groups of four to come up with an original hack that works on mobile, web, or any other digital device.

UIOWA Hackathon also provides teams with volunteer mentors, who are experts in their field.

At the end of the two day event, judges will pick a winning team. The projects will be judged by academic and industry experts.

The event also provides an opportunity for participants to meet with industry leaders and network with peers from around the Midwest.

The event is held October, 6-7th and is free and open to the public.

The main event is at the Iowa Memorial Union building in the second floor ballroom.
