EVANSDALE, Iowa, (KWWL) -- Everyone is invited to the 2021 edition of the annual Memorial Ride and Drive for the girls. The 9th annual ride is set for Saturday, July 10, starting and ending at Lofty's in Evansdale.
The event pays tribute to kidnapped and murdered cousins, Elizabeth Collins and Lyric Cook-Morrisey, while raising money for Crime Stoppers and the Angels Park Island.
July 13 will mark nine years since the cousins went out for a bike ride on that Friday the 13th and never returned home. The case remains unsolved. No arrests have been made.
Their bikes and some personal belongings were found at Meyers Lake in Evansdale. Hunters discovered the girls' bodies five months later in a rural area of the 7 Bridges Park in Bremer County.
As always, the public is invited to attend and even take part in the Memorial Ride and Drive.
While motorcycles lead the ride, all vehicles are welcome. Registration begins at 8:00 am at Lofty's, located at 3480 Lafayette Road in Evansdale. The kickstands will go up at 11:00 am to start the ride.
The route will take participants past the entrance to Angels Park, where other family members will display posters of their missing loved ones, as the ride also pays tribute to those families and victims in the many unsolved cases across Iowa.
Elizabeth Collins' father, Drew Collins, talks about the ride and his daughter's case on this week's edition of The Steele Report.
