DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) -- Thursday was the grand opening of 'Voice of the Hawkeyes' Gary Dolphin's new venue in Dubuque called Gary Dolphin's Iron Bar.
The sports bar is located on East 10th Street in the old Ironworks building, a brick building that has been completely renovated.
A ribbon-cutting took place late Thursday afternoon and Gary's broadcast partners Ed Podolac and Bobby Hansen were on hand with him along with his family. Several former Hawkeye players showed support as well and legendary Iowa wrestler Dan Gable was there Wednesday night.
Manager John Finn says there's something for every sports fan.
Some of the features at the bar include:
- The Press Box
- Recreation of the actual press box at Kinnick Stadium
- Dolph's Den
- A separate room next to the main bar that has couches and a fireplace
- Dolph’s Dugout
- A semi-private area behind the back-bar with the look of a dugout that can be reserved for smaller groups
- Dolph's Corner
- Corner of the bar that pays tribute to his family's Dolphin's Corner one of the first convenience stores in his hometown of Cascade
