CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KWWL) -- An overnight fire at a warehouse containing various metals in Cedar Rapids left 3 injured Friday.
Fire crews were dispatched just before 10 p.m. Friday night for a fire at a warehouse belonging to PMX Industries, a metal manufacturer. Officials say a variety of mostly metal shavings were inside at the time including Zinc, Copper, Nickel, Silicate, Maganese, Magnesium, and Phosphorus.
Upon arrival, firefighters found moderate smoke and flames. They quickly doused the flames and left the structure with little to no damage. Some of the metal material was listed as a loss in a news release.
Two employees were treated on scene by Area Ambulance Service. The extent of their injuries wasn't immediately available but one was taken to St. Luke's Hospital. The other employee refused transport, according to the fire department.
A fire fighter reportedly suffered a minor injury and was also taken to St. Luke's for evaluation.
The fire was deemed unintentional.
