WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Cedar Valley Soccer Complex is lighting up the night sky this weekend. For the 20th year, the Moonlight Classic saw players from all over the state perform as portably lights illuminated the complex' fields.
"We play our last game at 12:30 in the morning, hence the name moonlight," said C.V. soccer club executive director Kyle Nelson, "So, all the older kids get to play under the lights. it's something that a lot of other clubs, they just don't do which, brings a lot of people to the community to try something different"
Eighty teams took part in the 2021 event, featuring more than 1,000 players. Nelson says the event pumps an estimated $1 million in to the local economy.
