Honor Flight operations to resume after more than a year of cancellations

(KWWL) -- After having operations suspended for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Honor Flights will be allowed to take to the skies starting August 16.

The Cedar Valley Honor Flight will take flight out of the Waterloo Regional Airport on Sept. 22. Flight orientation is scheduled for Sept. 9. Veterans who were scheduled to go on a flight in 2020 will be contacted by staff with instructions for the September flight.

The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight has three flights scheduled for the fall, Sept. 21, Oct. 5, and Oct. 19. Orientation dates are Aug. 22, and Sept. 19 for the two October flights. If you were scheduled to go on a flight in April, May or September 2020, staff will reach out to you with more information for the upcoming flights.

All participants must either be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide negative results from a PCR COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to departure. Face masks are also required. These requirements apply to all veterans, guardians, Honor Flight staff and volunteers.
