UNI Softball nearly sweep MVC Awards

CEDAR FALLS(KWWL)--The Panthers will travel to Evansville, Indiana as the 2 seed in the MVC Tournament. Receiving an automatic berth into the semifinals, the Panthers will play Friday at 2 pm with the championship game being played on Saturday at 1 pm. •The UNI Panthers enter the MVC Tournament as the #2 seed, earning an automatic bid into the semifinals.
•The Panthers finished the MVC regular season with the most wins in the Valley with a 20-7 record.
•Head coach Ryan Jacobs recorded his 6th 30 win season and UNI's 15th.
•This season the Panthers are 16-3 at Robinson-Dresser Sports Complex.
•Senior Shortstop Sammey Bunch currently sits tied for 1st in the Missouri Valley Conference for home runs in a career with (58) and sits 2nd in a season with (21)  (May 8). For Sammey Bunch record watch see page 5.
• Kailyn Packard pushes her overall record to 20-5 and 14-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Packard has stuck out 162 batters while only walking 43 and has an overall ERA of 2.09.
• Packard earned MVC Pitcher and Newcomer of the Week honors for her play in the final MVC series against Southern Illinois. Packard threw her first career no hitter and finished the series with 18 strikeouts in 14 total innings.
• Kamryn Shaffer is second on the team with 13 home runs and 33 RBIs. Her 13 home runs ranks 4th at UNI for single season home runs.
