May 1: Iowa reports no additional COVID-19 deaths, 388 more cases

EDITOR’S NOTE: The daily numbers that we report do not line up with the numbers the state is reporting for each day. Every day at 10 a.m. we take the previous day’s numbers from 10 a.m. and subtract them with the current numbers from the state at 10 a.m. Rather than reporting a day behind, we wish to give you the most updated information. For Black Hawk and Linn Counties, we are reporting numbers from their county COVID-19 websites. For Johnson and Dubuque counties, we are reporting numbers from the state’s website.

(KWWL) — There were 388 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 365,164.

The state’s website says that of the 365,164 people who have tested positive, 347,713 have recovered. This is 519 more recoveries than what the state reported Friday.

The state is reporting 0 additional COVID-19 deaths, with a death toll of 5,950.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (347,713) and the number of deaths (5,950) from the total number of cases (365,164) shows there are currently 11,501 active positive cases in the state.

As of Saturday morning, there were 33 patients hospitalized in Iowa within the last 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 189, which is down from 191. Of those, 44 are in the ICU (down from 45), and 18 are on ventilators (down from 22).

In Iowa, there were 2,014 people tested in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,712,154 people have been tested for COVID-19.

As of Saturday morning, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard, 2,251,492 total doses have been administered to Iowa residents and 1,064,197 individuals have completed the series. BLACK HAWK COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 dashboard is showing 19 new cases since 10 a.m. Friday, leaving a total of 16,824 cases. There have been 5 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 15,050. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 307 deaths. In Black Hawk County, 44,473 residents have been fully vaccinated.

LINN COUNTY

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the Linn County COVID-19 dashboard is showing 23 more cases since 10 a.m. Friday, leaving a total of 20,616 cases. The dashboard is also showing 16 more recoveries, leaving a total of 19,023 recoveries. There have been no additional deaths, leaving a total of 341 deaths in the county. There are currently 10 patients hospitalized in the county. In Linn County, 79,762 residents have been fully vaccinated.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Saturday, there are 13 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 a.m. Friday. This brings the total to 14,352 reported cases. There have been a total of 13,548 recoveries, which is 31 more reported than yesterday. There were no additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 83. In Johnson County, 62,172 residents have been fully vaccinated.

DUBUQUE COUNTY

According to the state’s dashboard at 10 a.m. Saturday, there were 11 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 a.m. Friday. This brings the total to 13,289 reported cases. There have been 22 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 12,609. There was one additional death reported, leaving a total of 207. In Dubuque County, 38,658 residents have been fully vaccinated.
